Improvise
Things don’t always line up the way we plan. Chase and Jessica had a golden hour engagement shoot scheduled, but the weather wasn’t into it. It’d been raining on and off all day, and rescheduling wasn’t an option – so we went for it.
They hopped in a golf cart, hoping to get down to the beach during a lull, but halfway there it started pouring again. By the time they pulled up, the rain had completely soaked them, and they were a little upset about how things were going.
Instead of shutting it down, I encouraged them to lean into it. The result was moody, authentic, and different. The rain gave the photos a character you can’t plan for, and it turned into one of my favorite engagement shoots; one full of story, texture, and something the three of us will always remember.
I shared this shoot as a reminder that the best photos often come from the unexpected. Why stress over what’s out of your control?
